 The African Unity Organization hosted the African Unity Awards and Gala on 14 August 2010. The Consul General of South Africa, Amb. Nomvume P. Magaqa, was the evenings key note speaker. Consul General Magaqa also accepted on behalf of the South African Consulate in Chicago, the African Pillar of Excellence Award in recognition of South Africa's historic hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on the African continent.
