Former President of South Africa, Mr. Thabo Mbeki participated as the Keynote Speaker at Northwestern's 2011 conference themed Africa's Golden Age: Seizing Opportunities in an Exciting New Era'. His address focused on, “Africa at 50, Reflecting the Past, Laying the Path for the Future.”

 

17 of Africa's 53 countries celebrated five decades of national sovereignty in 2010, representing a true ' coming of age'. The Africa story has never been more promising than it is today. The 2011 conference  explored trends in economic activities and shifts in sociopolitical landscapes that position Africa as the most promising frontier for investments.
